ALPEGGIO

The Norwegian anthropologist, Thomas F. W. Barth came to account, in his famous essay “Nomads of South-Persia; the Basseri tribe of the Khamseh Confederacy”, for the death of ritual among the Basseri – or of any other rooted belief – he concluded that the journey itself was the ritual, that the road to summer uplands was the Way, and that the pitching and dismantling of tents were prayers more meaningful than any in the mosque.

The film has been shoot in five hours on the Mondeval grazing grounds (2500m) and recalls the stories of wayfarers and shepherds that crossed the Dolomites through the centuries. Nations on the run that found a shelter and protections among those mountains. Sometimes this people was legendary like the Wandering Jew or the midgets in the Fanes mythology.

The main character is a traveller busy pitching and dismantling a tent, surrounded by a mystical and breathtaking landscape.

A repetitive action that becomes a ritual and obsessive prayer.
